Klauer’s Elite paint finish is a unique formulation that provides a hard, durable coating with desirable warm color tones and low reflective properties. The chemistry in the paint system creates a natural, random, rock-like surface as the paint dries at a high temperature. The structure of the surface defuses light and gives it its warm appearance. Resembling a painted wood product, Elite coated siding retains its natural look and feel even on the brightest of sunny days with little to no glare or reflecting light.
In general terms, high gloss in paint correlates with better chalk and color fade protection. The Elite system maintains high gloss quality properties with pleasing low gloss curb appeal. And while the paint surface has greater impact resistance, its rock-like surface can scuff against itself. Added wax in the system helps prevent minor scuffs, which can be buffed out with a cloth. Special care in handling during installation should be observed.
Have you ever heard of a directional paint system? You have now. As mentioned above, the magic of Elite happens in paint line ovens at coil coating facilities. Large coils of steel, approximately 10,000 pounds each, are threaded through coating line that run at 600 feet per minute and with ovens heated to 450 degrees. At these speeds, the unique rock-like structure in the drying paint tends to “lean” in one direction. Distributors and installers of Elite coated products should take notice of situations where it’s possible to have adjacent siding panels installed with material running in opposite directions. All box siding produced in our factory will always be running in the same direction as we only coil material in one direction. Seamless siding contractors should take care to not re-roll a coil or feed in the opposite direction from which it was received.
THE INTENDED AND PROPER USE OF TOUCH-UP PAINT
Touch-up paint is not intended to be used as a substitute or as a suitable replacement for industrial applied, baked-on, factory coated steel and aluminum building products produced and sold by Klauer Manufacturing Company. It is recommended that scratched and damaged product be replaced rather than installed and repaired with any type or brand of touch-up paint. Air dry paints are dissimilar in many ways to our coil coated paint systems and will not perform in a similar manner. Normal sun exposure and outdoor elements will cause applied touch-up paint to weather, chalk, and fade at a highly accelerated rate over all types of baked-on factory applied coatings. When applying touch-up paint, be aware that additional applications will need to be made in the future if a scratch is to continue to be concealed as previous applications fade or change color. Touch-up paint is a non-warrantied product and proper use and storage is critical to its limited performance.
THE PROPER APPLICATION AND STORAGE OF TOUCH-UP PAINT
2-OZ. BOTTLES AND PAINT PENS
Intended to be used over minor scratches on product that is deemed impractical to replace or to repaint in its entirety using proper methods and coatings.
Fill small surface scratches with narrow applications of color matching paint using the tip of a paint pen or a small artist style brush. Paint should be applied only to the extent that the small surface scratch is filled and any excess paint removed.
Intended to be used to paint accessories or building components on or near a structure to color blend into the Klauer brand building products installed or utilized on the structure. At no time is it recommended that any type of aerosol spray paint be applied to the finished surfaces of any Klauer branded product.

FOR KLAUER CLASSIC AND ELITE STEEL SIDING COLOR PALLET
A newly available, high quality touch-up paint system has replaced our existing inventory which was made of acrylic modified enamel resins. PVDF resin-based paints outperform other commercially available liquid, air dry coatings. Applications of this new touch-up paint can be expected to maintain color and film integrity 2 to 3 times longer.
Our desire to supply the highest quality products and services has led us to make this change. The cost increase of the new formulation matches its superior performance. New and updated pricing will be distributed. Please contact our Customer Service team if you have questions or concerns.
