Instructions for Installing Klauer Ridgolator   (Back)

RIDGOLATOR is regularly furnished in 4' or 10' lengths. Each length is a complete ventilator and, if desired, can be installed as such. One of RIDGOLATOR'S major features is that it can be applied to any roof pitch without necessitating a custom-built job. Anyone possessing ordinary mechanical ability can install the RIDGOLATOR in first-class shape with a minimum of labor after a short study of the following illustrations and simple directions.
  1. The first step in preparation for applying is to leave an opening in the roof, equal in width to dimension E, for the size of the ventilator used. This opening should also be of a length necessary to receive the number of 4' or 10' sections required.
    Ridgolator Cross Section
Above is a cross section drawing of RIDGOLATOR. Dimensions are as follows:
Size Width Height Outlet Roof Opening Length Gauge
    A B C D E

    6" 14-1/2" 13" 7-1/2" 8" 120" 26

    6" 14-1/2" 13" 7-1/2" 8" 48" 26

    9" 22" 19-3/4" 11" 12" 120" 24

    9" 22" 19-3/4" 11" 12" 48" 24

    12" 28" 21" 14" 14" 120" 24

While dimension A is the size determining factor, dimension E is of most concern to the erectors. All sizes are available with or without a damper.

    1. Adjust End Flashing
Flashings should first be bent to fit the given roof pitch. Then flashings should be attached to the roof so that the vertical part of the metal flashing will be inside of the ridgolator and the wide horizontal flashing flange will project outside of the end of the ridgolator. The ridgolator is fastened to the roof by nailing through the attached flashing flange on both sides.

      Ridgolator Flashings

Poly filler strips are available to close the openings which result from the flashing flange passing over metal roofing channels. NOTE: Do Not Caulk Flashings.

    2. Both ends of the ridgolator are cut on a 4 on 12 pitch which also works well on a 3 on 12 pitch. If the ridgolator is being applied to a steep pitch, you can cut the end to suit the particular roof pitch.
